The idol is made of black Shaligram stone sourced from Karnataka, which gives it a deep black colour. Even in ancient texts, the description of Ram is found as “नीलाम्बुजश्यामल”, that is, Ram who is dark like a blue lotus, beautiful, dark and with soft limbs. The idol is in very simple attire, in which Shri Ram Lala is wearing only dhoti and crown. This simplicity reflects the divine qualities of Rama, such as humility and compassion. This idol of Ram Lala has been created by famous sculptor Arun Yogiraj. The sculpture took several months to create and used special craft techniques.
