The people I am going to talk about in this blog are currently one of the most powerful people in Europe. I have made a list of these persons. There are some politicians in this list and some people are working on big posts. All these individuals have the potential to exert a significant influence on events in Europe and the world. 1. Ursula von der Leyen
Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen is a German politician and physician. She was born on 8 October 1958 in Ixelles, Belgium to German parents. She served in the German federal government between 2005 and 2019, holding consecutive positions in Angela Merkel’s cabinet, and served as Minister of Defense from 2013 to 2019. She is currently serving as the 13th President of the European Commission since 2019.
2. Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is a Russian politician and intelligence officer. He was born on 7 October 1952 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Putin served as an officer in the KGB, the Soviet Union’s intelligence agency, for 16 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He has served as the current President of Russia since 7 May 2012. He is one of the most powerful people in the world. He is also known as Top 15 Most Powerful Person of Europe in 2023.
3. Olaf Scholz
Olaf Soules is a German politician. He was born on 14 June 1958 in Osnabruck, Lower Saxony, Germany. He was Mayor of Hamburg from 2011 to 2018 and deputy leader of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). He served as Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance in Angela Merkel’s cabinet from 2018 to 2021. He later assumed office as Chancellor of Germany on 8 December 2021.
4. Emmanuel Macron
Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frederic Macron, better known as Emmanuel Macron, is a French politician, senior civil servant, and former investment banker. He was born on 21 December 1977 in Amiens, France. He was a member of the Socialist Party from 2006 to 2009, and held the position of Deputy Secretary-General in the first government of Francois Hollande. In 2016, he founded the centrist political party On the March and became a presidential candidate in the 2017 election. He received a majority in the election and became the youngest President of France at the age of 39.

5. Rishi Sunak
Rishi Sunak is an Indian-British politician. He was born in a Brahmin family on 12 May 1980 in Southampton, Hampshire, England. He has been the MP for the Richmond constituency since 2015. He was Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020 and Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022 in the government of Boris Johnson. Who is currently the prime minister of the United Kingdom. He is also known as Top 15 Most Powerful Person of Europe in 2023.
6. Charles Michel
Charles Michel is a Belgian politician. He was born on 21 December 1975 in Namur, Wallonia, Belgium. He is the son of Louis Michel, former European Commissioner, Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He became Minister for Development Cooperation in 2007 at the age of thirty-one. He served as the Prime Minister of Belgium between 2014 to 2019. He is currently the President of the European Council since 2019.
7. Jens Stoltenberg
Jens Stoltenberg is a Norwegian politician. He was born in Oslo, Norway to the Stoltenberg family on 16 March 1959. His father Thorvald Stoltenberg was a prominent Labor Party politician who served as Norway’s ambassador, defense minister and finance minister. He has been the Prime Minister of Norway twice and also served as the Chairman of the Labor Party of Norway from 2000 to 2014. He is currently serving as the 13th Secretary General of NATO since 2014.
8. Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Volodymyr Zelensky is a Ukrainian politician, screenwriter, actor, comedian, and director. He was born on 25 January 1978 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. Prior to his political career, he obtained a law degree and founded a production company that produces films, cartoons and TV comedy shows. Zelensky announced his presidential candidacy through a TV channel on 31 December 2018. Zelensky later won the presidential election in 2019 by winning 73.22% of the vote and defeating the then President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko. Currently he is the 6th President of Ukraine.
9. Christine Lagarde
Christine Madeleine Odette Lagarde is a French politician and lawyer. She was born on 1 January 1956 in 9th arrondissement of Paris, France. He completed his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Paris Nanterre and obtained his master’s degree from Sciences Po Aix. He had an illustrious political career. She has served as a cabinet minister in various ministries of France. She was Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries from 2005 to 2007 and Minister of Economy from 2007 to 2011. She is the first woman to hold each of those posts. He served as the 11th Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund from 2011 to 2019. He is serving as the President of the European Central Bank from 2019 to the present.
10. Giorgia Meloni
Giorgio Meloni is an Italian politician and journalist. She was born on 15 January 1977 in Rome, Italy. She has been a member of Italy’s House of Representatives since 2006. Meloni joined the Brothers of Italy (FdI) political party in 2014, and was president of the European Conservative and Reformist Party in 2020. She has served as the Prime Minister of Italy since 22 October 2022. Meloni is the first woman in Italy to hold the office of Prime Minister.

Bernard Jean Etienne Arnault is a French businessman, investor and art collector. He was born on 5 March 1949 in Roubaix, France. He is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton. His company is the world’s largest seller of royal furnishings and luxury goods. Arnault and his family business are estimated to be worth $211 billion. According to Forbes, he is the richest person in the world. He is also known as Top 15 Most Powerful Person of Europe in 2023.
12. Mark Rutte
Mark Rutte is a Dutch politician and businessman. He was born on 14 February 1967 in The Hague, Netherlands. He entered politics after working in Unilever. Mark is the current Prime Minister of the Netherlands. He was the leader of the People’s Freedom and Democratic Party from 2006 to 2023. His party won the election in 2010 and he assumed the office of Prime Minister on 14 October 2010.
13. Klaus Schwab
Klaus M. Schwab is a German economist and mechanical engineer. He was born on 30 March 1938 in Ravensburg, Germany. He is the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum. He was awarded a doctorate in economics from the University of Fribourg, and a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
14. Benoit Coeure
Benoit Quere is a French economist. He was born on 17 March 1969 in Grenoble, France. He was a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank from 2012 to 2019. He is currently serving as the President of the Autorite de la Concurrence (French Competition Authority) from 2022. He held the post of Chairman of the Bank for International Settlements Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems.
15. Mateusz Morawiecki
Mateusz Jakub Morawiecki is a Polish politician, economist and historian. He was born on 20 June 1968 in Wroclaw, Poland. He served as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Development and Minister of Finance in Beta Sidwo’s cabinet. He is currently serving as the 17th Prime Minister of Poland. He helped Poland to join the European Union.
